Mikel Arteta wants Leroy Sane at Arsenal

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly keen on signing 28-year-old German international Leroy Sane and bring him back to the Premier League.

According to an update by Christian Falk on Caught Offside, Leroy Sane is the subject of interest from Mikel Arteta. The Arsenal manager is a big admirer of the Bayern Munich attacker’s talent, having previously worked alongside him at Manchester City. The Spanish tactician wants the North London club to sign the German international and bring him back to the Premier League.

Leroy Sane and his Bayern Munich journey so far

Leroy Sane has blown hot and cold since joining Bayern Munich from Manchester City in a big-money deal in July 2020. While the former FC Schalke 04 winger has shown flashes of his brilliant ability, he has not been consistent in the final third for the Bavarian outfit.

The 28-year-old has contributed to 101 goals in nearly 200 appearances thus far for Bayern Munich, finding the back of the net 51 times and providing 50 assists. However, Sane might be playing his final season for the Bundesliga club after entering the final nine months of his contract at the Allianz Arena.

Meanwhile, Sane’s situation has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. The German international might soon return to the Premier League, with Arsenal and Newcastle United vying for his signature ahead of the 2025 summer transfer window.

Premier League return on the horizon?

Recent reports have painted a contradictory picture of Arsenal’s links with Leroy Sane. There have been suggestions this week that the Bayern Munich attacker is not the subject of interest from the North London club. However, Christian Falk has claimed that Mikel Arteta wants Arsenal to sign Sane and bring him back to the Premier League.

As for Newcastle United, the Tyneside outfit will likely part ways with Miguel Almiron next year, with the Paraguayan international not in Eddie Howe’s long-term plans. So, Sane is a viable target for Newcastle United, although the 28-year-old does not want to join the Magpies.

With Mikel Arteta pushing Arsenal to sign the German international and reunite him with his former Manchester City charge, it will be interesting to see if the Gunners launch the offensive to secure his services next year. The North London club can also secure a pre-contract agreement in January.
