Liverpool are looking to get ahead in the race for Aurelien Tchouameni as Real Madrid considers offers for the midfielder.
According to Fichajes, Liverpool are ahead of any other suitor in the race for Aurelien Tchouameni if Real Madrid are ready to sell the midfielder. Arne Slot’s side have been in the market for a holding midfielder and will jump at the chance of signing the France international.
Real Madrid paid €80 million to sign Aurelien Tchouameni from Monaco, and the signing has worked reasonably well so far. The retirement of Toni Kroos and the limited minutes for Luka Modric have allowed Tchouameni to get regular starts in Carlo Ancelotti’s side. However, there are considerable doubts about his long-term presence there.
Fellow midfielders Federico Valverde and compatriot Eduardo Camavinga tend to suit Real Madrid better, as Tchouameni does not seem to fit into Carlo Ancelotti’s tactical frame completely. The Frenchman’s recent display against Barcelona in the 4-0 Classico loss at home may have triggered something about the midfielder within the Real Madrid hierarchy, who are now considering his possible sale in the future.
Madrid are thinking about revamping their midfield options, as they would plan rather extensively once Modric departs. They are reportedly not even demanding the €80 million they paid to sign the Frenchman, as a report stated they would sell him for offers in the €60 million mark.
Many clubs are keen on signing the midfielder if he is indeed made available. Manchester City and Chelsea are among those interested, while Liverpool are also keen, having missed out on Martin Zubimendi in the summer. The Reds are also in a fantastic position to pay big if needed, as they will want to lead the chase for Tchouamni if he is indeed available.
Liverpool are leading Tchouameni chase
While it’s not official transfer season yet, it’s always difficult to analyse which team is leading away for a particular player. In Tchoiuameni’s case, Liverpool are probably keeping channels open in the background in a bid to get an early lead if they are to accelerate talks for the midfielder.
Liverpool’s missing out on Zubimendi aside, they need a proper holding midfielder to drastically improve their team’s quality. Had they signed a player in the profile last summer, things would have looked more robust than they already are, meaning Arne Slot will probably urge the club to bring someone like Tchouameni if he does become available.
