Arsenal are keen on Palmeiras striker Luighi and will scout the teenager ahead of a potential January window approach.
According to Nosso Palmeiras, Arsenal are interested in 18-year-old striker Luighi and will scout the forward in the coming period. The Gunners could be in the market for a young striker to add to their squad, as Mikel Arteta has space in his team for a player of that profile.
Arsenal have been in the amrket for a enw striker and were in links with names that are readymade products. This was the idea since last January when everyone was suggesting they needed a marquee No.9 to fuel a proper title challenge, although since then, the circumstances have changed.
Kai Havertz’s top form has made Mikel Arteta’s job a bit easier, and his intricate centre-forward play has benefitted the team as a whole. Meanwhile, Eddie Nketiah’s departure in the summer did hint at Arsenal getting a replacement, which never materialised.
In fact, their chase of Benjamin Sesko indicated the change in priorities when signing that new striker, as Arteta now wants a young gem to be developed with the current team. Arsenal retains an interest in Sesko and could re-launch a move for the Slovenian next summer.
Incidentally, the Slovenian is one of many on their list, as Arsenal are interested in Palmeiras’ Luighi. The Brazilian teenager has impressed many top clubs with his mature performances for Palmeiras. Arsenal are set to scout him ahead of a possible future approach, probably even in January.
Luighi will cost €80 million
Palmeiras have an €80 million release clause in place, and they are insisting that clubs pay that much to have a chance to sign the teenager. Arsenal are keen, but they are unlikely to pay anywhere close to that sum to land a talent they so admire.
Palmeiras has made some big sales in recent years, including Endrick, Estevao Willian, and Danilo, among others. While they might be adamant at this stage to sell the €80 million-rated South American prodigy for his release clause sum, negotiations could bring his price down to the range they sold Endrick for, which is around the €45-50 million mark.
