Real Madrid establish contact with Vinicius Junior over new deal

La Liga champions Real Madrid have reportedly contacted the entourage of 24-year-old Brazilian international Vinicius Junior over a bumper new contract.

According to an update by Spanish journalist Jorge C Picon, Real Madrid will look to tie Vinicius Junior to a bumper new contract soon. The reigning La Liga champions have already contacted the 24-year-old attacker’s entourage regarding fresh terms. However, the player is in no hurry to pledge his future to Los Blancos, although he remains committed to the club.

Vinicius Junior and his Real Madrid journey so far

Vinicius Junior has established himself as one of the best players in the world since joining Real Madrid from Flamengo in July 2018. The South American attacker had to bide his time before establishing a foothold in the first-team squad at the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, he has not looked back since becoming a mainstay in the final third for Real Madrid, going from strength to strength in the last few seasons. Vinicius has been hot off the blocks this term, contributing to 15 goals in 15 appearances across all competitions thus far by finding the back of the net eight times and providing seven assists.

However, the reigning La Liga champions are in a spot of bother over the long-term future of the Brazilian international amid emerging links with the big-spending Saudi Pro League outfits. The said clubs have been hot on the trail of the Real Madrid attacker since the summer transfer window.

What next?

Saudi Pro League clubs remain keen on signing Vinicius Junior, especially on the back of a frustrating week for the player. The Real Madrid attacking mainstay was the favourite to win the Ballon d’Or ahead of Rodri. However, the Manchester City midfielder pipped him to the coveted prize, leaving the player and Los Blancos miffed.

That has led to speculation surrounding the long-term future of Vinicius, with the big-spending Saudi Pro League clubs ready to launch the offensive to secure his services. However, Real Madrid will look to tie the 24-year-old to a bumper new contract, having initiated contact with his entourage.

While the Brazilian international is committed to Real Madrid, he is in no hurry to sit down with Los Blancos to discuss a new contract. With Vinicius waiting for the “right time” to sign fresh terms, it will be interesting to see how talks between the two parties progress.
