Arsenal quash Leroy Sane links; Aston Villa, Newcastle United keen

Leroy Sane is not a target for Arsenal, although Aston Villa and Newcastle United are keen on signing the 28-year-old German international next year.

According to an update by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Leroy Sane is not the subject of interest from Arsenal. Recent reports have linked the North London club with the Bayern Munich attacker. However, the Gunners are not pursuing the signature of the German international, although Aston Villa and Newcastle United are keen on signing him.

Leroy Sane and his spell with Bayern Munich

Leroy Sane has established himself as one of the best players in the Bundesliga since joining Bayern Munich from Manchester City in a big-money move in July 2020. While he has not been the undisputed first-choice attacker for the Bavarian giants, he has made his mark in the last four years.

The 28-year-old has fallen in the pecking order under the tutelage of Vincent Kompany, managing only 249 minutes of game time across eight appearances in all competitions. However, Sane has scored three goals in those outings. Meanwhile, the player faces an uncertain future at the Allianz Arena after entering the final nine months of his contract, with the situation alerting Aston Villa and Newcastle United.

A man in demand

Recent reports have also linked Arsenal with the German international. However, Graeme Bailey has claimed that the Gunners have played down those rumours, suggesting they are not keen on securing his services. While Mikel Arteta wants two top-notch options for every position, he does not want Arsenal to sign Sane despite his impending free-agent status.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa’s interest in Leroy Sane is understandable. The Villans are scouring the market for an offensive reinforcement heading into the 2025 summer transfer window, with Sane emerging as a viable target. The German international can be a top-notch addition to the Aston Villa squad, with the West Midlands club progressing considerably under Unai Emery.

As for Newcastle United, the Magpies want to sign a wide attacker next year amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term future of Miguel Almiron. With the Tyneside outfit keen on parting ways with the Paraguayan international, the Bayern Munich attacker is an option worth considering.

However, Aston Villa and Newcastle United might not be in a position to sign the 28-year-old despite his impending free-agent status. Sane’s wage demands might rule the two Premier League clubs out of the running due to Financial Fair Play implications.
