Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United have no concerns about the long-term future of their star striker Alexander Isak.
According to a report from Football Insider, Newcastle United are keen on securing the long-term future of their star forward Alexander Isak. They have received a blow as contract renewal talks have hit a standstill but the Magpies are in no panic about his contract situation.
Isak made a name for himself at Real Sociedad. His consistent performances forced Newcastle to fork out a massive £60 million to sign him from the Spanish club in 2022. The 25-year-old Swedish striker has only gone from strength to strength since.
Isak on the wishlist of rival clubs
He has established himself as one of the best forwards in the Premier League and it has resulted in a lot of interest from clubs across Europe. Rivals Arsenal have been linked with the former Sociedad striker and they seem to be willing to break the bank to sign him.
Isak penned a six-year deal with Newcastle when he first signed from the Spanish club and he is yet to pen an extension. While his deal runs until the summer of 2028 and there is still a lot of time left, the Magpies were looking to secure his long-term future with a new deal.
They were ready to offer him lucrative terms to commit his future but contract renewal talks with the player’s camp have taken a back seat as they are concerned about the direction the club is heading towards.
Newcastle not worried about Isak’s future
With talks stalling, there has been a lot of chatter about his future but the Tyneside club are not panicking about his contract situation. With years left on his deal, they are in a very comfortable position despite interest from elsewhere.
Their manager Howe has asked the player to focus on football and as far as a new deal is concerned, dialogue between both parties remains open. But for now, the focus is on getting him back to 100% as he has struggled with fitness early on in the new season.
