Ruben Amorim looking to raid Sporting CP after Manchester United move

Ruben Amorim has reportedly set sights on three Sporting CP players, who he wants at Manchester United in the next window.

According to Team Talk, Ruben Amorim is already linked with some of his Sporting CP players who he wants at Manchester United. The Portuguese manager is set to take over at Old Trafford and succeed Erik ten Hag, as he wants to bring Viktor Gyokeres, Pedro Goncalves and Goncalo Inacio to the Premier League.

It seems only a matter of time before Ruben Amorim becomes Manchester United’s new manager as talk of a move picks up momentum. The Red Devils have had a verbal agreement in place with the 39-year-old since yesterday, and reports on Tuesday indicate the club is willing to pay his €10 million release clause.

Manchester United wasted no time chasing the 39-year-old, as the reported verbal agreement came hours after they sacked Erik ten Hag. With the Portuguese’ appointment now getting closer, the media rumour mill has already begun churning out the transfer targets that Amorim might prefer.

The media has barely taken a day to link some of the Sporting CP stars to Manchester United. The report states Amorim would want to bring Arsenal target Viktor Gyokeres, Pedro Goncalves, and Goncalo Inacio. Should he consider signing them in January, the club will be asked whether it has the budget to do so.

For instance, Inacio has a €50 million-plus release clause, and Sporting will not accept anything less even if the deal was structured as opposed to paying the whole fee in one shot. The same could be said for Gyokeres, who has an €80 million-plus release clause, and even if some reports have suggested Sporting could sell for less than that, it’s still a considerable outlay for Manchester United.

Will Amorim sign Sporting trio at Manchester United?

While there’s a likelihood that Amorim could bring Inacio and Goncalves, two of his most used players at Sporting, along wherever he goes next, there are doubts about Gyokeres. The Swedish striker could have the interest from clubs that are currently better than Manchester United, and he might prefer to go elsewhere. Moreover, the Red Devils have only invested in a new striker, so that that move might be unlikely.

Inacio, too, has interest from elsewhere, with Manchester City chasing him alongside Ousmane Diomande. Goncalves might prove to be the most realistic target ahead of January, as Manchester United could potentially consider him as a replacement for the misfiring Antony.
