Liverpool are scouting Turkiye midfield sensation Orkun Kokcu ahead of a potential move to Anfield.
According to a report from Record, Liverpool are interested in the signature of Orkun Kokcu who has had an impressive rise as Benfica. The Reds seek more quality in midfield and the Turkiye international is quite high on their wishlist.
Kokcu came up the ranks at Feyenoord. He made quite a name for himself while playing for their first team before securing a move to Portugal. While he struggled to get going at Benfica during his debut season, the 23-year-old has turned things around during the 2024/25 season.
He has featured in a total of 11 matches across competitions and has contributed towards seven goals. Apart from playing as a central midfielder, he is also capable enough to feature as an attacking midfield as well as on the left flank.
His abilities along with his huge potential have put him on the wishlist of multiple top clubs. While his contract with the Portuguese giants runs until the summer of 2028, multiple top clubs will try to price him away. Liverpool are believed to be one of those clubs.
Liverpool keen on signing Kokcu
The Reds wanted to add more quality to their midfield and they feel a player like Kokcu could help her in the short as well as the long run. They are impressed with the amount of progress he has made and have been scouting him of late ahead of a potential move to Anfield.
They are interested in the services of the 23-year-old defender and their representatives were in the stands to watch him play in Benfica’s last two outings. They were in attendance to watch the Benfica sensation in the Champions League outing against Feyenoord and also kept an eye on him during the weekend’s league fixture.
The Reds’ current boss Arne Slot worked with the Turkiye international during his time at Feyenoord. He has total confidence in the player and wants to bring him to Liverpool as he looks to help the club take the next step.
