The Tiago Santos story
Tiago Santos has established himself as one of the best full-backs in Ligue 1 since joining LOSC Lille from Estoril Praia in July 2023. A native of Lisbon, the youngster began his youth career at Sporting CP and represented three other clubs before graduating from the academy at Estoril Praia a few years ago.
Santos has seen his stock soar during his spell with LOSC Lille in the last 15 months. The 22-year-old has turned out over 50 times thus far for Les Dogues while chipping in with three goals and four assists. Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe.
Recent reports have linked the Portuguese full-back with several high-profile clubs across Europe, especially in the Premier League. Liverpool will be one of the prospective suitors for the LOSC Lille right-back next year.
Premier League move on the horizon?
Tiago Santos has been on Liverpool’s radar for a long time. The continued interest in the LOSC Lille full-back is understandable, considering the Reds are in a spot of bother over the long-term future of Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Englishman has entered the final 12 months of his contract with Liverpool and has yet to commit his long-term future to the Merseyside club.
With Real Madrid pushing to secure Alexander-Arnold’s services, Liverpool must plan for life after the English international. So, several candidates, including Amar Dedic, have emerged on Liverpool’s radar, with Santos also a viable target for the Merseyside outfit.
Liverpool will likely face stiff competition from several other high-profile Premier League clubs for Santos. However, the Reds also have alternate options on their wishlist, and it will be interesting to see who becomes the top right-back target for them.
