Arsenal prepared to pay €60 million to sign Dusan Vlahovic

Arsenal are ready to spend €60 million to sign Dusan Vlahovic in January, as Juventus are reportedly considering their options.

According to Inter-Live, Arsenal are looking closely at Dusan Vlahovic ahead of the January window and is willing to fork out €60 million to sign the Serbian. Juventus is considering the forward’s future, as he will have 18 months left on his current deal when the next window opens, and there’s no talk of a contract renewal yet.

Arsenal are still being pushed to sign a new striker despite the rise of Kai Havertz in that role, which has perfectly suited Mikel Arteta’s style. The German has been good, but they need a more prolific presence up front, which could push them towards a former target in Dusan Vlahovic.

Arsenal are still keen on the Serbian and could formulate an offer in the upcoming January window. The need for a new striker might have become very important this season because of Gabriel Jesus’s ineffective performances and the fact that Eddie Nketiah has already left.

Hence, Arteta and Edu Gaspar might be willing to revisit one of their earlier striker targets, as the 24-year-old Serie A forward has come into a different position at Juventus. Arsenal had previously made an enquiry, and now they are reportedly ready to table €60 million for the Serbian forward.

Whether that much will be enough remains to be seen, as Arsenal are even willing to match his current salary if not offering him a massive pay rise. Juventus are reportedly considering the striker’s future amid their own problems.

Why will Juventus sell Vlahovic?

Juventus are happy with Vlahovic from the sporting side and how he has adapted under Thiago Motta. However, from the financial side, they are seemingly bleeding money with the kind of salary he draws, as his pay will keep increasing every year based on his contract terms.

Hence, if they are to offer him a new deal, the terms might have to be very high compared to what he draws currently, which may not feel sustainable from Juventus’ point of view. The €60 million that Arsenal are willing to pay is even lower than what they have paid to Fiorentina, including add-ons, although that much money will also seem reasonable in January when Vlahovic will have 18 months left on his deal.
