Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are reportedly keen on signing 25-year-old Danish midfielder Morten Hjulmand from Sporting CP.
Morten Hjulmand has been linked with a move to the Premier League, and a report from Spanish outlet Fichajes has claimed that Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are keen on the 25-year-old Denmark international.
The defensive midfielder has done quite well for the Portuguese club, and his performances have attracted the attention of English clubs. It is no surprise that clubs like Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are keen on him. He will add physicality, presence and defensive cover to the side if he joins them.
Arsenal could certainly use a player like him. They need to find a quality long-term alternative to the likes of Thomas Partey and Jorginho. The Denmark international midfielder would be a solid acquisition.
On the other hand, Liverpool have been searching for a quality defensive midfielder since the departure of Fabinho. They tried to sign a quality defensive midfielder in the last two summers as well. The 25-year-old could solve that problem for Liverpool, and he would be a major upgrade on Wataru Endo.
As far as Manchester United are concerned, they have looked vulnerable at the back, and a quality defensive midfielder will certainly help them tighten up. In addition, Casemiro is in the twilight of his career, and Manchester United need an alternative soon. The Danish international could be the ideal long-term replacement for the veteran Brazilian midfielder at Old Trafford.
Hjulmand asking price could be an issue
All three clubs will be exciting destinations for Hjulmand, and it remains to be seen where he ends up. It will be interesting to see if they are willing to pay big money for him. The midfielder has a €80 million release close and that might complicate matters.
Even though he is a quality player, clubs will not want to pay that kind of money to sign him from Sporting CP. Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United will probably hope to sign Morten Hjulmand for a more reasonable price. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops.
