Serie A giants Juventus can only afford to land 23-year-old Manchester United attacker Joshua Zirkzee in January if they secure his services on loan.
According to a report by Tuttosport, as relayed by Il Bianconero, Joshua Zirkzee is the subject of interest from Juventus. The Serie A giants are keen on bolstering their offensive department in the January transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term future of Dusan Vlahovic. However, the Bianconeri can only afford a loan move for the 23-year-old Manchester United attacker.
Joshua Zirkzee and his Manchester United spell so far
Joshua Zirkzee has blown hot and cold since joining Manchester United from Bologna in a big-money deal in July 2024. The Dutchman arrived at Old Trafford amid some hype and fanfare surrounding him after an impressive 2023/24 campaign with the Rossoblu, helping them qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
However, the 23-year-old has not been productive inside the opposition’s box, although he has made his mark with his hold-up play. Zirkzee has managed only one goal and one assist in 12 appearances across all competitions thus far for Manchester United.
With Zirkzee struggling to be clinical in the final third for Manchester United, recent reports have suggested that he is not happy at Old Trafford. Widespread updates have pointed to the Dutch striker being open to returning to Serie A next year. His next destination might be the Allianz Stadium, with Juventus among his prospective suitors for the January transfer window.
Serie A return on the horizon?
Juventus’s interest in Joshua Zirkzee is understandable. The Serie A giants are in a spot of bother over the long-term future of Dusan Vlahovic. The Serbian international might depart from the Allianz Stadium if the Bianconeri cannot tie him to a new contract in the coming weeks.
With Vlahovic not having a shortage of suitors pursuing his signature, especially from the Premier League, a departure might be on the cards. Zirkzee has thus emerged as a viable target, with Juventus reportedly in the pole position to sign him from Manchester United. However, the Bianconeri can only afford a move for the Dutchman if the Red Devils agree to a loan deal.
It is unclear if Manchester United will even be ready to part ways with Zirkzee, let alone agree to a loan deal six months after signing him from Bologna. The possibility seems low, and it will be surprising if the 23-year-old Netherlands international leaves Manchester United to join Juventus in the January transfer window.
