Three big Premier League sides are vying for Portuguese teenager and Sporting CP sensation Geovany Quenda ahead of next summer.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Geovany Quenda is steadily becoming a firm target for Liverpool, Manchester City, and Manchester United. The 17-year-old Portuguese wonderkid has been an integral part of Ruben Amorim’s Sporting CP side this season, as a big move to the Premier League awaits the teenager.

Geovany Quenda has been a big presence in this current Sporting CP side. His growing importance has become relevant owing to the number of games he has been playing. Ruben Amorim has placed his trust in the teenager this term, as he has started six of the eight league games so far.

Scouts from Liverpool, Manchester City, and Manchester United were in attendance during Sporting CP’s win over Sturm Graz in the UEFA Champions League. This is not the first time English clubs have been interested in him, as Chelsea held an interest before and could still monitor the teenager’s progress.

Manchester United, alongside a host of other Premier League sides, are among those interested and could have taken steps to enquire about his availability. Their progress in the race does leave Liverpool and Manchester City slightly behind, although the duo have the power to catch up.

Sporting CP have an £83 million release clause in the 17-year-old Portuguese wonderkid’s contract that lasts until 2027. That will make it difficult for anyone to try and sign Geovany Quenda on the cheap. Yet, there is a feeling that negotiations could see the price drop significantly in a way that benefits all parties and reflects the player’s importance.

Manchester City, Liverpool are keen on Quenda

Manchester City have already signed Claudio Echeverri, who will arrive in 2025, meaning they have secured a promising right-footed left-winger for the future. They are behind Geovany Quenda, who is likened to the likes of Bukayo Saka and Mohamed Salah for his role as a right-winger, while he can also play in a wing-back role if needed.

Either way, Manchester City will be keen to have a player of that quality in their team, while Liverpool could be looking to strengthen that right-wing should Salah leave next summer. Irrespective of the Egyptian’s departure, they will want another top profile there for the future and could seriously consider a move for the 17-year-old Portuguese wonderkid.
