Manchester United are reportedly willing to let Antony Leave in January, albeit only on loan, to protect his value, as a few sides are interested.
According to Fichajes, Manchester United have told Antony he is free to leave in the January transfer window amid reports of a loan departure due to the expensive signing. The Brazilian has failed to shine at Old Trafford and does not feature in Erik ten Hag’s current plans for the season.
Antony remains one of Erik ten Hag’s biggest transfer mistakes. He persuaded the club to spend €100 million on the Brazilian winger. Even his top form with former side Ajax did not warrant such an expansive fee for the winger. Yet, the Dutch giants stood firm on their demands and probably got what they wanted.
Despite a solid start to life at Manchester United, he has since faltered away into irrelevance as others have taken over his position. Alejandro Garnacho seems like the man ahead of him in the starting place on the wings, while Amad Diallo has also leapfrogged Antony in the pecking order as things stand.
Rumours of a late departure in the summer transfer window came up. However, Manchester United may not have received viable offers to send the player away. They are now open to letting the 24-year-old leave on loan as they would like to avoid a hasty sale when his market value is totally down.
They would prefer to sell for a hefty price or loan him out, as the club feels the 24-year-old could galvanise his career with regular minutes elsewhere in an atmosphere with less pressure. There are a few teams in the mix, and Antony could depart Old Trafford in a temporary move.
Newcastle United Crystal Palace keen
There are reports that Newcastle United and Crystal Palace are keen on moving forward, as a loan move will suit either of those sides. Palace would make do with a new attacker in their side after a terrible start to the season.
Similarly, Newcastle might be enticed by the prospect of a talented star being available on loan, which would be helpful rather than spending a fortune on a new arrival in January. Hence, there is a big possibility that either of those teams can make the move for the 24-year-old Manchester United forward, who does not have a future at Old Trafford for the time being.
