Newcastle United need to pay £23 million to sign Kevin Zenon

Newcastle United could consider Kevin Zenon a possible addition in January as Eddie Howe seeks a winger in the next window.

According to Football Insider, Kevin Zenon emerges as a target for Newcastle United, who continue to search for a winger ahead of the January window. The Boca Juniors star, rated at £23 million, could be seen by the Magpies as a cheaper alternative to some of their other expensive targets.

Newcastle United did have an underwhelming summer window, and the differences between Eddie Howe and new director Paul Mitchell might have played a huge role. However, the club is eager to resolve those issues and look ahead to the January window, when a right-winger is a priority requirement

The Magpies have lacked attacking options on the right side, and Miguel Almiron is almost sure to leave in the next window. Howe will seek a replacement if the Paraguayan leaves and some options are already being discussed in the background.

They have an interest in Antoine Semenyo, although Bournemouth are set to demand a fee of around £40-50 million, which might make him expensive. Newcastle United still has to deal with PSR obligations, which will make a huge outlay in January rather tricky.

Hence, they are now looking at cheaper alternatives and could revisit their interest in Kevin Zenon. The Magpies had earlier enquired and scouted the player. Boca Juniors are reportedly demanding £23 million for the winger.

Will Kevin Zenon suit Newcastle United?

Zenon likes to operate on the left wing, and being a left-footed player, Howe might see the vision in developing his talents on the opposite flank. It’s still a tough ask as they are stacked with big talents on the left-hand side, meaning they will not sign the £23 million-rated attacker in that role.

Hence, there are doubts about whether he would fit in immediately, although that is not to suggest he cannot play on the right side. Considering the prices for other right-wingers the Magpies are interested in, a move for Zenon might be financially viable and could be seen as the right investment for the future, although he does have other clubs chasing him.
