Arsenal, Aston Villa, Chelsea, and Newcastle United are reportedly monitoring the progress of 20-year-old Ivorian midfielder Mario Dorgeles.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Mario Dorgeles is gaining popularity in the Premier League market. Arsenal, Aston Villa, Chelsea, and Newcastle United are among the clubs keeping tabs on the progress of the Nordsjaelland prospect. In addition, other well-known English top-flight outfits like Brentford and Manchester City are also interested in the 20-year-old prospect.
Who is Mario Dorgeles?
Mario Dorgeles is one of the latest highly-rated African prospects to rise in prominence at an unheralded European club. Denmark, in particular, has witnessed the progress of Mohammed Kudus and Ousmane Diomande. The latter’s compatriot has grown in stature at Nordsjalland and drawn comparisons to former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel.
The 20-year-old is a native of Andokoi and spent his formative years in Africa, graduating from the youth division at Right to Dream. Dorgeles has been with FC Nordsjaelland since August 2022 and has turned out 64 times thus far while chipping in with two goals and five assists. Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, alerting high-profile clubs like Arsenal, Aston Villa, Chelsea, and Newcastle United.
A man in demand
Arsenal might part ways with Thomas Partey and Jorginho next year, with the duo on the wrong side of 30. So, they must delve into the market for a midfielder, with the Ivorian midfielder emerging as a target. As for Aston Villa, they have a stacked midfield department after signing Amadou Onana in the summer transfer window.
However, the Villans remain in the market for a midfielder, with several candidates, including Angel Gomes, emerging on their radar. Meanwhile, Chelsea’s interest in Mario Dorgeles is baffling. The Blues have a stacked midfield unit, and they need to offload a few players before signing a midfielder.
Nevertheless, it is hardly surprising that a midfielder who has drawn comparisons to John Obi Mikel has emerged on Chelsea’s radar. Reports a few months ago revealed that Newcastle United had the chance to sign Dorgeles. The Tyneside outfit can do with a player like Dorgeles if Sean Longstaff departs from St. James’ Park.
Meanwhile, other Premier League clubs like Brentford and Manchester City are also keen on signing Dorgeles from Nordsjaelland. It will be interesting to see where the 20-year-old Ivorian midfielder lands if he moves to the Premier League next year.
