Sevilla will demand at least €20 million to sell Loic Bade

Sevilla will demand at least €20 million to part ways with 24-year-old French defender Loic Bade, with Liverpool keen on signing him.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Loic Bade is the subject of interest from Liverpool. The Reds view the 2024 Paris Olympics silver medalist as the long-term successor to Virgil van Dijk. Meanwhile, Sevilla will demand at least €20 million to part ways with him next year.

Loic Bade has established himself as one of the best young defenders in La Liga since joining Sevilla from Stade Rennais last year. The Frenchman initially joined the Andalusian outfit on a loan deal until the end of the 2022/23 season before completing a permanent move in July 2023.

The 24-year-old has come leaps and bounds in the last 18 months, having been a rare bright spot for the struggling Los Nervionenses. Bade has turned out 67 times thus far for Sevilla while chipping in with two goals and one assist. In addition, his exploits for the Andalusian club helped him earn a spot in France’s squad for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

The home side went all the way to the final but fell short at the last hurdle, sufficing with the silver medal after losing to Spain. Meanwhile, the French defender’s progress at Sevilla has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe, including Liverpool.

Liverpool’s interest in Loic Bade is understandable. The Reds are scouring the market for a young centre-back ahead of the 2025 summer transfer window. While the initial requirement is to fill Joel Matip’s void after failing to sign a replacement this past summer, they want to land someone who can be Virgil van Dijk’s long-term successor.

Bade has thus emerged as the top target for Liverpool.
