Fulham and Everton are the Premier League sides eagerly pursuing ‘late bloomer’ defensive target Joyskim Dawa ahead of January.
According to The Mirror, Steaua Bucharest defender Joyskim Dawa is emerging as a target for Everton and Fulham ahead of the January window. The £4 million Cameroonian defender is regarded as a ‘late bloomer’ and is eager to make the move to the Premier League.
Playing in lower European leagues like Romania barely offers players the exposure needed to make a move to one of the big five leagues. However, there are instances when some clubs do take a look at players, especially when they feature in one of the European competitions.
In the case of Steaua Bucharest defender Joyskim Dawa, the club’s foray into the Europa League this season has given him some much-needed exposure to showcase his talent on the big stage. The Cameroonian defender was a key part of the Romanian club’s win in both matchdays in the competition so far, as they beat LASK and POAK.
The report states that scouts did watch them without clarifying which teams had sent their observers. However, the story points out that Fulham and Everton are two of the clubs interested in the player described as a ‘late bloomer’, as the 28-year-old is keen to make the switch to the Premier League.
Bucharest reportedly would let the player leave for £4 million, which would be a bargain in many aspects. However, it could also be a gamble as the player lacks sufficient experience in big leagues.
Fulham and Everton interested in Dawa
Fulham are in the market for a new defender, and Marco Silva will likely target someone to bolster his depth options in January. They do have links to big names like Fiyako Tomori, but that may not materialise in the middle of the window. Either way, the Cottagers might look at a player like Dawa to add to their depth options.
Everton will have a much bigger task in keeping hold of their star man, Jarrad Branthwaite when interest could ramp up. However, they will also look to add to their depth options and might see the £4 million-rated African defender Dawa as someone to bolster their squad.
