Tottenham’s potential asking price for Pedro Porro could become a big obstacle for Real Madrid in their pursuit of the full-back.
According to Fichajes, Real Madrid’s pursuit of Pedro Porro could hit a roadblock, as Tottenham will not let the Spaniard leave easily. The north Londoners will demand a significant fee, while the right-back will seek a big salary to join the Spanish giants as Florentino Perez continues to find a suitable replacement for the injured Dani Carvajal.
Dani Carvajal is such an important player for Real Madrid and Spain that both sides will miss the right-back during the season. A serious injury suffered by the Euro 2024 winner will see him miss the remainder of the campaign, meaning Real Madrid might have to make a replacement signing in January.
They are keen to bring Trent Alexander-Arnold as their priority target, but Liverpool are unlikely to entertain January bids for their player. With the right-back’s contract expiring in the summer, Real Madrid had originally planned to sign him on a free transfer but has since thought about making a January approach to replace Carvajal.
Liverpool are reportedly progressing in contract talks with Alexander-Arnold, although there are no guarantees he will stay at the club. Should Real Madrid push for a summer deal, they could succeed, as they are bound to fail in January.
Real Madrid also views Pedro Porro as an alternative to Alexander-Arnold, with the Spaniard on their shortlist. The Tottenham star has been in good form since arriving at the club in January 2023, and Madrid is pondering an approach in the January window. However, there are big complications in the pursuit.
Tottenham will not sell Pedro Porro easily
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is one of the toughest negotiators in the football business, and Real Madrid will know that ahead of a potential approach for Porro. Moreover, the 25-year-old Tottenham star will cost a huge sum, and the player himself will demand a significant salary if he were to make the switch.
Surely, if Spurs and the player receive a concrete proposal, Porro might consider leaving for the Spanish giants and returning to his homeland. However, the asking price might be the biggest roadblock for Real Madrid in its pursuit of the 25-year-old Tottenham star.
