Manchester United very keen on Rodrigo de Paul

Premier League giants Manchester United are interested in the services of Atletico Madrid midfield mainstay Rodrigo de Paul.

According to a report from Fichajes, Rodrigo de Paul could part ways with Atletico Madrid in the near future. While he has been a key player for Diego Simeone’s team, the Argentine World Cup winner could be headed to the Premier League where Manchester United are interested in adding him to their squad.

De Paul’s consistent performances for Italian outfit Udinese Calcio resulted in a move to the Spanish giants in the summer of 2021 and he hasn’t looked back since. He has established himself as one of the mainstays in Simeone’s team and has featured in multiple different roles for the Argentine boss.

While he hasn’t been able to lift a major silverware during his time in Spain, the 30-year-old has won two Copa America titles and the World Cup with Argentina. His consistent performances for club and country along with his ability to feature as a defensive midfielder, a right-sided midfielder and a central midfielder have resulted in a lot of interest.

While his contract with Atletico runs until the summer of 2026, he could be on his way out in 2025. Despite his importance to the team, the Spanish outfit could look to cash in on him if they receive the right offer.

Manchester United want Rodrigo De Paul

Manchester United have emerged as a potential destination for the Argentine international. The Red Devils are looking to reinforce their midfield as they dream of competing with the best teams in the country. They feel De Paul could be a great addition to their team as he is equally good at regaining possession of the ball and distribution.

Reports suggest they will look to offload Casemiro and De Paul could come in as an ideal replacement. While he is not an out-and-out defensive midfielder, the Argentine could be just the perfect fit for the Red Devils. More importantly, they have the financial strength to prise him away from Atletico.

This could be the Spanish club’s last opportunity to raise a significant fee from his departure. Meanwhile, a move to the Premier League could be a new challenge for the Argentine international who has done a great job for Atletico over the years.
