Tottenham, Newcastle United, West Ham United closely monitoring Caleb Okoli at Leicester City

Leicester City have a promising talent in Caleb Omkoli, whose early performances have attracted considerable interest.

According to TBR, Caleb Okoli is a target for at least three Premier League sides ahead of next summer. The Leicester City summer signings have made a good impression in the early part of the season, which could lead to a big move next summer.

Caleb Okoli appeared to have reservations about joining an English club earlier in his career, but that may have been put to bed following his summer move to Leicester City from Atalanta. The centre-back spent the previous campaign on loan at Frosinone and came out with a good impression.

Leicester City struggled in the early parts of the campaign, but their defence has been the bedrock of some positive results they managed to achieve under Steve Cooper. Okoli, despite his inexperience in the Premier League, has shown enough quality, while his physical attributes suggest he could have a big future in England.

The Italian was named in the Nations League squad for the current international break but has yet to make his move into the starting lineup under Luciano Spalletti. The 23-year-old Premier League centre-back has been thoroughly impressed with his displays for the Foxes, which has led some domestic sides to show interest.

West Ham and Newcastle United are in the mix. The former made many signings during the summer and could still be short of another defender. The Hammers are eager to include another centre-back in their ranks, while the Magpies are still reeling after missing out on top target Marc Guehi in the summer. Hence, Eddie Howe might watch Okoli’s performances this season before deciding on next summer.

Tottenham might have an advantage

Tottenham has been eager to sign a new centre-back with links to Tomas Araujo in recent weeks. They are also eager to strengthen their defensive ranks and are also looking at a top-draw defensive midfielder like Samuele Ricci. However, they have an advantage in the Okoli chase, given that they have scouted the defender before, as they have with other Italian-based players in the past.

Hence, Spurs might have a bigger say over Newcastle United or West Ham if Leicester City show any inclination about selling the 23-year-old Premier League centre-back next summer. Even if they do, the Foxes are known as tough negotiators and will demand a significant fee that will more than double their investment in the Italian international.
