Liverpool are making progress in contract renewal talks with their defensive mainstay Trent Alexander-Arnold amidst interest from Real Madrid.

The contracts of a few of their top stars are running out and academy graduate Trent Alexander-Arnold is one of them. The Reds are trying their best to extend the stay of the English full-back and according to a report from Football Insider, the Merseyside club have made progress in talks with their defensive mainstay.
Alexander-Arnold has been a key figure in their first team for years and he has played a massive part in all the success they have had. But, he last signed a contract extension back in 2021 and his deal runs out at the end of the season.
Real Madrid’s interest in Alexander-Arnold
As a result, there is a lot of talk about him leaving the club for free and there is interest in his services from Real Madrid. Los Blancos want to reinforce the right-back position with Dani Caravajal and Lucas Vazquez on the wrong side of 30 and Alexander-Arnold is believed to be their priority target.
With Carvajal picking up a serious injury, the Spanish giants are looking to step up their interest. For now, the player’s entourage has made it clear that he hasn’t held any talks with clubs other than Liverpool. But, the 26-year-old will be free to sign a pre-contract with a foreign club in January, which opens up the possibility of him leaving for free.

Liverpool want to avoid that situation at all costs. They consider him an integral part of their plans moving ahead and are willing to make him one of the highest-paid players at the club. Meanwhile, Alexander-Arnold is open to penning down a new deal as long as the club is ready to match his ambitions of pushing for all major titles.
The Reds are in talks with their academy graduate regarding a new deal and they are confident about convincing him to stay at the club. The report suggests they have made some progress over a new deal which is a massive boost for the club as well as their supporters.
