Liverpool in three-way battle to sign Cristhian Mosquera

Liverpool are among the teams showing interest in Cristhian Mosquera, and two more European giants are chasing the Valencia star.

According to Fichajes, Valencia might be open to selling another one of their top young assets, with Cristhian Mosquera now linked to some of the big clubs. The 20-year-old La Liga defensive prospect has been a regular for Los Che this season, and soon, he could find himself in the thick of a transfer battle with Liverpool, one of the three clubs keen.

Valencia has had many financial issues, but they have continued to produce top talents out of their academy. Los Che have the likes of Javi Guerra being chased by numerous top clubs, not 20-year-old La Liga defensive prospect Cristhian Mosquera, who is the next such player attracting massive interest.

Arsenal had links with Mosquera, with Mikel Arteta keeping tabs on his development since the start of the year. However, with the Gunners stacked in defence, they might not prioritise another centre-back in the next windows, which could see the likes of Liverpool pounce on the idea of signing Mosquera.

Liverpool are in the market for defensive reinforcements, either to bring in additional talent or to replace Virgil van Dijk, who is entering the final year of his deal. The Merseysiders are not eager to spend big on a star name but feel they could develop a talent such as Mosquera.

Liverpool are linked with some defensive targets in the market, including star names such as Marc Guehi. Should they sign someone of the Crystal Palace star’s ilk, they could still bring the 20-year-old La Liga defensive prospect as an additional centre-back to add to the depth.

Liverpool face competition from Euro giants

Inter Milan are one of the sides keen on Mosquera alongside Atletico Madrid in what appears like a three-way battle for the 20-year-old. Diego Simeone, over in Madrid, would seek a La Liga defender of the Valencia man’s quality for his side. It would be in the mix, as Los Che reportedly would do business for around €30 million, which will help them financially.

Inter Milan are in the market for new defenders as they could end up losing Francesco Acerbi and Stefan de Vrig once their contracts expire. They could view Mosquera as someone who comes into their side with the long-term future in mind, as they would not mind paying what Valencia wants for the 20-year-old.
