Fenerbahce eyeing Victor Lindelof swoop

Jose Mourinho is reportedly eager to reunite with seven-season Manchester United veteran Victor Lindelof at Turkish club Fenerbahce in the January transfer window.

According to a report by Turkish outlet Sabah, Victor Lindelof is the subject of interest from Fenerbahce. Jose Mourinho wants a new centre-back for his squad in the January transfer window. So, the seven-season Manchester United veteran has emerged as a viable target for the Turkish club.

Victor Lindelof and his journey at Manchester United

Victor Lindelof has been in and out of the starting lineup since joining Manchester United from SL Benfica in July 2017. A highly sought-after prospect during his spell with the Portuguese outfit, the Swede was hot off the blocks at Old Trafford but has dropped to the bottom of the pecking order for centre-backs at the Premier League club.

The 30-year-old is now a veteran at Manchester United after starting his eighth season at Old Trafford. The Vasteras native has turned out over 250 times thus far for the Premier League outfit while chipping in with four goals and seven assists. However, Lindelof faces an uncertain future at Manchester United.

The Swedish central defender has entered the final 12 months of his contract with Manchester United and might leave the Premier League heavyweights as a free agent in the 2025 summer transfer window. Meanwhile, Lindelof’s situation has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe, including Fenerbahce.

Turkish adventure on the horizon?

Fenerbahce’s interest in Victor Lindelof is understandable. Jose Mourinho has four centre-backs in his squad but wants more options at his disposal heading into the second half of the 2024/25 season. So, the seven-season Manchester United veteran has emerged as a viable target for Fenerbahce.

The Turkish giants are ready to launch the offensive to sign the 30-year-old Swedish international from Manchester United in the January transfer window. With the Red Devils willing to cash in on him this coming winter, a deal might be on the cards.

However, Fenerbahce might not be the only well-known club pursuing Victor Lindelof’s signature in 2025, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic eager to reunite with him at AC Milan, albeit next summer. It will be interesting to see where the Swede lands when he leaves Manchester United.
