Everton are reportedly set to battle other clubs to bring Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo back to the Premier League.
Everton have endured a disappointing start to the new season. They have struggled to get going, and Sean Dyche has already identified a few key areas that need reinforcement in the winter. According to a report from Fichajes, the Toffees will look to reinforce their midfield, and they are interested in the services of former Liverpool star Arthur Melo.
The Brazilian midfielder has been considered a top talent from the start, but he has not been able to reach the expected levels. Arthur’s spell at Barcelona did not really go according to plan, and things have not been that bright either since he made the move to Juventus.
The former Barcelona midfielder even had a loan spell at Liverpool during the 2022/23 season, which can be considered a blunder as he could only make one appearance for their first team. He was on loan at Fiorentina last season and managed to put in some impressive performances.
Juventus to sell Arthur in January?
Arthur’s solid spell with Fiorentina has not been able to convince Thiago Motta that he deserves a place in his plans at Juventus. The 28-year-old has not featured in the new season yet, and he is looking at the winter transfer window to secure a permanent move away and restart from scratch.
Since the Brazilian is not in their plans and he will only have 18 months left on his deal in the winter, the Old Lady won’t mind sanctioning his departure. Arthur Melo finds himself on the wishlist of three clubs: Marseille, Everton and Fiorentina.
The Ligue 1 outfit are looking further bolster their squad, and Roberto De Zerbi is believed to be a fan of the 28-year-old. He would love to work with him. Meanwhile, Fiorentina want to sign him permanently following an impressive loan spell. Rolando Mandragora’s recent injury has opened the door for a possible return.
Everton rival interest clubs for Arthur’s signature
Everton are ready to rival both clubs to his signature. The Merseyside club have had a poor start to the new season. They are struggling to execute Sean Dyche’s plans, and he is keen on bringing in a defensive midfielder to sort things out.
The Brazilian midfielder was reportedly open to joining Everton in the summer, and the Toffees have keeping a close eye on the former Barcelona star for a while now. The 28-year-old did not have the best of time at Liverpool. But Dyche is still looking to bet on him as he feels he could solve their problems.
