Liverpool are interested in Deportivo Alaves’s winger Carlos Vicente, and a potential approach could be on the cards for the Spaniard.
According to Fichajes, Carlos Vicente has the attention of some Premier League sides, including Liverpool. The Deportivo Alaves winger could be seen as a potential investment opportunity by those clubs, as he has shown plenty of promise since joining the La Liga side in January of this year.
Two goals in seven games for an attacking player in the early parts of the season does represent good numbers. However, in Carlos Vicente’s case, it’s his influence on the pitch that has caught the eye, as he has proved an impoertant performer for his side, who are settled in a mid-table position.
Having joined from Racing Cerrol in January 2024 for €600,000, Deportivo Alaves could profit hugely from their investment, as some Premier League sides are circling Vicente. The winger also has a €20 million release clause in his contract, while his market value has doubled since making the move to the La Liga side.
In any case, as per Transfermarkt, his market value currently stands at €4 million, which is a far cry from the €20 million release clause in his contract. While Alaves would be eager to get the full price of his contract from suitors, they might have to settle for a lower sum if negotiations commence with interested parties, as none of those are likely to match his release clause.
Things could still change in that aspect. If Vicente puts in top performances between now and January, that will make Alaves’s position even stronger. Either way, with a sale, the Basque side will make a solid profit from the sale of the €20 million-rated Spanish attacking prospect. Liverpool are one of the clubs interested in Vicente ahead of future windows, but they also face competition from Premier League rivals.
Liverpool in Vicente tussle
Liverpool are actively looking at young attackers to come into their setup and develop. They might have the added factor of replacing Mohamed Salah, but they need to look at these young stars like Vicente to do the job. For the Egyptian’s successor, they have names like Karim Adeyemi on their list, while the likes of Vicente are seen as an investment opportunity of sorts.
Similar to Vicente, they are also keen on Dario Osorio, among other names, as Liverpool would want to keep bringing in young stars to add to their talent pool. Vicente, for now, seems like a first-team target, as Liverpool could potentially approach Alaves to begin negotiations, probably even in January.
