Julen Lopetegui pushing West Ham United to sign Ayoze Perez

Julen Lopetegui is keen to explore a move for the in-form Ayoze Perez as the Spanish manager eyes an experienced goalscorer.

According to Fichajes, West Ham United might show an interest in exploring a move for Ayoze Perez in January. Julen Lopetegui likes the 31-year-old Spanish international as an option as he continues to search for an attacker with experience and goalscoring prowess to enter the frame in January.

Julen Lopetegui continues to find his grip on this West Ham side after a difficult opening period. They finally secured another win in the Premier League, as the Hammers downed Ipswich Town with a 4-1 scoreline. Such a performance would often get teams up and running.

In any case, Lopetegui was sufficiently backed during the summer and is set to get the support ahead of the January window. The Spanish manager would like to strengthen a few positions in the upcoming window as he also seeks an attacker with experience and goalscoring prowess.

They have been linked with numerous names, including Tyler Dibling, an emerging talent. However, the Hammers may look to sign the Southampton man on a free transfer later rather than spend in January, as Lopetegui will look for someone with proven experience at the top level.

AC Milan’s Samuel Chukwueze is also being considered alongside other clubs, as the winger is reportedly ready to quit the San Siro for a new challenge in January. Brighton’s Julio Enciso is also of interest, although the Seagulls are unlikely to sell the Paraguayan, at least not in January or on the cheap.

Ayoze Perez on West Ham’s radar

The latest name on the list is former Newcastle United and Leicester City winger Ayoze Perez. The 31-year-old Spanish international is experiencing some of his best football in years at Villarreal, and Lopetegui would be keen to explore a move for the attacker in January.

The 31-year-old Spanish international has six goals in seven La Liga games this season, as he was also part of the Spain squad that lifted the Euros in the summer. Perez also has 223 games to his name in the Premier League with the Magpies and the Foxzes, which does bring his experience to the table.

Any deal to leave and join West Ham will depend on Villarreal’s stance, as they consider him a key part of their plans for the current season at the very least. Hence, the Hammers might have more of a chance next summer to sign Perez, although should they want him in January, Villarreal will demand a significant sum of money.
