Fabrizio Romano rules out January move to Newcastle United for Maghnes Akliouche

Newcastle United have been linked with a January move for 22-year-old AS Monaco attacker Maghnes Akliouche.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed to Caught Offside that a move for Maghnes Akliouche in the January transfer window seems unlikely and that he has not heard anything about Newcastle United’s interest in the 22-year-old winger.

The reputed Italian journalist said, “I don’t have information on Newcastle actively working to sign Maghnes Akliouche or starting any sort of negotiation. It’s definitely too early to understand what’s gonna happen next summer. For January, no movement is expected and it’s understood that he will stay at Monaco.

“In the summer, we will see; but at the moment nothing to report. It will be interesting to see if Newcastle decide to try their luck for the player in January. It is no secret that they need attacking reinforcements. Signing the 22-year-old could prove to be a wise decision. The French-Algerian winger is highly rated across Europe and he has a bright future. He could develop into a top-class player with the right guidance.”

Newcastle United need attacking depth

Newcastle United have been overly dependent on Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak for goals and creativity. They need another quality winger at their disposal, and the right-sided winger would be the ideal fit for them. So, it is hardly surprising that Maghnes Akliouche has emerged as a target for the Tyneside outfit.

The 22-year-old will add pace, flair, and creativity to the side. The youngster is only going to improve with coaching and experience, and he could develop into a top-quality player for Newcastle in the long-term.

The Magpies will need to improve their squad if they want to push for trophies in the coming seasons. Newcastle have already brought in a number of quality players in recent seasons, and they will be hoping to compete in the Champions League regularly. It remains to be seen whether they can plug the gaps in their squad in the upcoming windows and finish the season strongly.

The 22-year-old winger could be attracted to the idea of moving to the Premier League after his spell in Ligue 1, and it remains to be seen when he ends up. A move to Newcastle United could be an exciting opportunity. They have an ambitious project and formidable resources. The Magpies could provide Maghnes Akliouche with the platform to compete at the highest level.
