Arsenal defender William Saliba has been linked with a move away from the North London club in recent weeks.
Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly keen on signing William Saliba. However, Fabrizio Romano has now revealed to Caught Offside that a move is highly unlikely and that Arsenal will not let the 23-year-old defensive mainstay leave any time soon.
“Although William Saliba will always be appreciated because of his immense talent, there’s nothing in a rumour that Paris Saint-Germain could make a big offer for his services at this stage, to be fair,” Romano said.
“There has been no approach from PSG, no proposal, no talks. Saliba is a crucial player for Arsenal so I don’t think there could be anything for Saliba to even consider soon. He’s very happy at Arsenal and there’s nothing ongoing with any club – no idea where these PSG stories are coming from.”
The development will come as a major boost for Arsenal and their fans. Saliba has been exceptional for Arsenal, and they cannot afford to lose him any time soon. He is a key player for them, and his departure would weaken them massively. While PSG can afford his £190,000-a-week wages, signing the Frenchman from the North London club will be a tall order.
Arsenal must keep Saliba
Arsenal will be hoping to compete with Manchester City for the league title, and they need to hold on to their best players. Saliba is already operating at a top-class level, and he has all the tools to develop into a world-class player. It is no secret that PSG have been linked with him, but Arsenal must do everything in their power to retain him as far as long as possible.
The 23-year-old is still quite young, and he will only improve with coaching and experience. He could develop into a future star. There is no doubt that the Frenchman is one of the best defenders in the league, and he is certainly the best defender at Arsenal.
The Gunners have one of the meanest defences in Europe, and Saliba is one of the main reasons why. Losing him is certainly not an option for the North London club. It will be interesting to see if any European bigwigs decide to try their luck with a move for the £190,000-a-week mainstay in the near future. The defender has been linked with Real Madrid as well.
