Inter Milan eye Joshua Zirkzee winter swoop, Juventus in pole position

Joshua Zirkzee could be offered a quick route back to Italy as Inter Milan and Juventus are in the race to sign the Dutch striker.

According to Milan-Live, Inter Milan are increasingly likely to make an approach for Joshua Zirkzee as soon as the next window opens. The Dutch striker only arrived at Manchester United in the summer but could be open to returning to Italy. Juventus are also keen and even considered to be in pole position for the striker.

Inter Milan keen on Joshua Zirkzee

Josuha Zirkzee has made a modest start to life at Manchester United. He scored a winner against Wolves on his Premier League debut. That strike has been his only goal for the Red Devils so far, even though Erik ten Hag has preferred to start him for most games. One might suspect that was because of Rasmus Hujlund’s injury in pre-season.

Ideally, once the Danish striker gets fit to start games, Zirkzee might be used as a secondary striker, although tactically, ten Hag could use them together in matches. Manchester United signed the Dutchman in a €42.5 million deal, which was slightly higher than his release clause, which was close to €40 million in the summer.

The Dutchman was a star at Bologna last season, but the report suggests he could be homesick for Italy and might give his greenlight to a return to Serie A. Inter Milan is reportedly interested in the striker, and some reports claim they are open to offloading Marcus Thuram for a big price if good clubs come in for the Frenchman.

Zirkzee could be a good enough option for Inter Milan, considering the Dutchman knows the league well and would be willing to make the switch. However, Manchester United will demand significantly more for the striker if they decide to sell, as some of the players, including the Dutchman, have not lived up to their billing.

Juventus in pole position for Zirkzee

Another report on Juve Live has claimed that Juventus are also in the mix for Zirkzee in future windows, as they could look to add the former Bologna star. Given that they have installed former Bologna manager Thiago Motta at the helm, the Bianconeri might be in pole position for the Dutchman.

While Manchester United may not readily sanction an immediate exit for the Dutchman, if they do plan on offloading him, then those Serie A giants are ready to go on the offensive. Much will depend on whether the report’s claim that Zirkzee’s homesickness is genuine, although that may be an overreaction to Manchester United’s recent struggles on the pitch.
