Crystal Palace could be forced to consider cut-price Eberechi Eze exit if player pushes for move

Crystal Palace could be forced to negotiate with clubs to sell Eberechi Eze, especially if the attacker fails to commit his future at Selhurst Park.

According to Football Insider, there is a concerning situation brewing at Crystal Palace with regards to Eberechi Eze’s future. The English attacker still has a contract until 2027, with a release clause active next summer, although the club might be forced to sit down with suitors and could even sell him for a cut-price fee if the player forces a move.

Crystal Palace were bracing for top clubs to come in for some of their critical stars, including Michael Olise, Marc Guehi, and Eberechi Eze. The view before the summer window pointed at a possible triple sale of their critical stars, but they only ended up selling the French winger to Bayern Munich.

Sticking with Eze, a few notable clubs were keeping close tabs on the 26-year-old playmaker, with Tottenham considered a big suitor. The attacker’s reported release clause of £68 million attached to his contract last summer could be active again in 2025.

On paper, Palace would only sell him if a club meets that clause, although should Eze show an intent to force an exit from the club, the circumstances could change dramatically. In case the 26-year-old considers the interest of top clubs and decides to leave one way or another, Palace could be forced to sit with suitors on the negotiating table to discuss a reduced fee.

Eze is being pursued by clubs like Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham. But Arsenal and others could also monitor his situation. They will ideally want the 26-year-old to sign a new deal at Selhurst Park, which would somewhat guarantee the club a good fee, although they will dread the prospect of selling him for less than his current release clause.

Will Eberechi Eze leave Crystal Palace?

Crystal Palace have aspirations and ambitions in the Premier League. But one might not be wrong to put a ceiling on their dreams. Hence, it is always likely that stars like Eze will leave the club at some point in pursuit of trophies and league titles, meaning his departure from Selhurst Park might seem inevitable.

Eze is reportedly open to exploring his options, something many had predicted he would during last summer. Hence, his ambitions could come in the way of his loyalty to Crystal Palace, meaning there’s a big chance for Eze to leave next summer, although a mid-season January sale is all but impossible.
