Aston Villa considering Samuel Lino swoop

Aston Villa are reportedly considering a move to sign 24-year-old Brazilian midfielder Samuel Lino from Atletico Madrid.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Aston Villa are keen on signing 24-year-old Brazilian wide player Samuel Lino, who has been compared to Eden Hazard, from Atletico Madrid next year.

The Atletico Madrid wide man has been linked with Chelsea as well. Lino is capable of operating as a left-sided winger as well as a left-back. Apart from his defensive qualities, he is quite impressive going forward, and he could add a new dimension to the Aston Villa attack as well.

The West Midlands club should look to bring in an upgrade on Lucas Digne. The Atletico Madrid wide player would be a solid acquisition for them. The 24-year-old is still quite young, and he could improve further with coaching and experience.

Samuel Lino could develop into an asset for Aston Villa with the right guidance. It will be interesting to see if the Premier League club can secure an agreement with the Spanish outfit for the versatile South American.

Can Aston Villa convince Lino to join?

Aston Villa are currently competing in the UEFA Champions League, and they will be an attractive destination for most players. It will be interesting to see if the Brazilian is keen on joining them in the coming months.

Lino is excellent in 1v1 situations especially when it comes to taking on opposition defenders and beating them with pace and flair. That is why he has been compared to the former Chelsea winger Eden Hazard, who was an exceptional dribbler as well.

It remains to be seen whether the Brazilian is ready to leave a big club like Atletico Madrid and move to Aston Villa. Although the Villans are in the UEFA Champions League, they are not quite at the level of Atletico Madrid, and they are unlikely to be able to challenge for major trophies consistently. The Brazilian might look at the move as a step down. It remains to be seen as the situation develops.

In terms of finances, Aston Villa certainly have the resources to get the deal done. Their sporting director Monchi has been keeping tabs on the Brazilian since 2022. He will know all about the player, and it remains to be seen whether the two parties can sort out an agreement in the near future.
