Liverpool are seemingly relaxed about Mohamed Salah’s future despite solid links to the Saudi Pro League next summer.
According to Football Insider, Liverpool are not overly concerned about Mohamed Salah’s strong links to the Saudi Pro League. The Merseysiders are eager to tie the Egyptian down to a new deal, although their reasons for keeping him will stress more on sporting reasons as they will not be able to match the Saudis financially.
Liverpool’s stellar start to the season saw Arne Slot’s side climb to the top of the table at the expense of Manchester City after the Champions drew against Newcastle United on Saturday. Those performances from the Merseysiders have shielded the club from its ongoing troubles renewing player contracts, especially that of Mohamed Salah.
Salah scored from the spot against Wolves and showed what he’s capable of despite claims about his age, among other things. After the win over Manchester United, Salah claimed nobody at the club had come forward with the idea of opening contract talks, which was more of a hint that he was ready to sign a new deal.
However, the Saudi Pro League has been following him for a long time, and recent reports stated that they are willing to offer a package of €90 million to lure the attacker. Last week, another story claimed that Salah was on the verge of a record agreement with one of the Saudi clubs, which, as reported, could see the Egyptian earn more than Cristiano Ronaldo, who currently makes €200 million a year.
Liverpool are ready to open contract talks but could make it abundantly clear that they will not meet the offerings made by the Saudi Pro League sides. In fact, the Reds are eager to tie down Salah to a contract based on Sporting terms, as he’s already their record-earner, and there are doubts about how much better they can really do to improve on his current terms.
Liverpool not bothered by Saudi interest in Salah
Liverpool will do their best to keep Salah at the club, but they will not be too bothered by the ongoing talk of Saudi interest in the Egyptian superstar. The Reds have names on their list to potentially replace Salah should he depart, as they believe the decision will be the winger’s to make when the time comes.
Hence, things might be out of Liverpool’s hands, especially with the money on offer from Saudi clubs, as the Middle Easterners will try their best to lure the Egyptian. That could also mean Liverpool does not make a huge financial effort to keep Salah, although they will certainly offer more than what he currently earns to show their faith in the seven-season veteran.
