Manchester United in transfer tussle to sign Ruben van Bommel

Manchester United are all set to battle it out with Bayern Munich for the services of Dutch attacking sensation Ruben van Bommel.

According to a report from Fichajes, Ruben van Bommel’s sensational rise at AZ Alkmaar has resulted in a lot of interest from top clubs across Europe. Bayern Munich are one of the clubs that have been keeping a close eye on the Dutch youth international and Manchester United are all set to rival them in the race for his services.

Van Bommel, the son of legendary Mark van Bommel made the move to Alkmaar in the summer of 2023 and he has only gone from strength to strength since. While he has only featured in a handful of games for the first team, the 20-year-old attacker has already made quite a name for himself.

The young winger has made a phenomenal start to the new season with six goals and three assists in eight outings. His performance against Elfsborg in their Europa League opener where he bagged two goals caught the attention of European giants Bayern and United who have been following him for some time now.

Manchester United will rival Bayern Munich for van Bommel’s signature

The German giants have a track record of signing young players and developing them into stars. They feel Van Bommel is an ideal fit for their style of play and his versatility could help their cause. Bayern hope he follows in the footsteps of his father who did make a mark in German football back in the day.

But, Vincent Kompany’s team are all set to face serious competition from Manchester United. The Red Devils have made a significant change to their transfer policy under the new part-owners. They now focus on signing young players with huge potential and Van Bommel seems to be a perfect fit for them.

His technical abilities and mentality fit the club’s values and they are ready to rival Bayern for his signature. The 20-year-old is focused on doing his best for the Dutch club where he has a contract until the summer of 2027. But, Van Bommel won’t be around for long as European giants are pushing for his services.
