Manchester United might offer 25-year-old Portuguese international Diogo Dalot in the deal to sign Inter Milan star Nicolo Barella and drive down his price of €75 million.
According to a report by Italian outlet Inter Live, Nicolo Barella remains the subject of interest from Manchester United. Inter Milan will demand around €75 million to part ways with him. However, the Red Devils might offer Diogo Dalot in a part-exchange deal to sign the Italian midfielder and drive down the Serie A club’s asking price.
Nicolo Barella and his story
Nicolo Barella has gone from strength to strength since joining Inter Milan from Cagliari. The Nerazzurri signed him on an initial loan deal in July 2019 before completing a permanent move 12 months later. And the player has been instrumental in the Italian heavyweights winning two Serie A titles in the last half a decade.
The 27-year-old has turned out nearly 250 times thus far for Inter Milan while chipping in with 23 goals and 52 assists. Meanwhile, Barella’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe.
Recent reports have linked the Italian international with European bigwigs like Liverpool, Manchester City, and Real Madrid. However, Nicolo Barella’s next destination might be Manchester United, with the Premier League heavyweights preparing a proposal to prise him away from Inter Milan.
Premier League move on the horizon?
Manchester United’s interest in Nicolo Barella is understandable. The Red Devils are keen on bolstering their midfield unit in the 2025 summer transfer window, with Casemiro and Christian Eriksen approaching the final phase of their careers. So, Barella has emerged as a viable target, as he can complete the midfield department at Old Trafford alongside Manuel Ugarte and Kobbie Mainoo.
While recent reports have denied Manchester United’s interest in Barella, the latest update has suggested that a part-exchange deal might be on the cards. Inter Live has claimed that the Red Devils are considering offering Diogo Dalot in the arrangement to sign the Italian international.
Manchester United hope to significantly reduce Inter Milan’s asking price of €75 million by offering Dalot in the deal. However, it is unclear if the Serie A champions are ready to sign the Portuguese full-back and accept a lower cash inflow than €75 million.
