Marc Guehi would love to join Liverpool

Newcastle United defensive target Marc Guehi has informed his friends that he is open to a move to Liverpool.

According to a report from Football Insider, Crystal Palace defensive sensation Marc Guehi is aware of Liverpool’s interest in his services and would jump on an opportunity to join the Merseyside club. While Newcastle United retain interest in his services, the English international has informed his friends that he would like to join the Reds ahead of the Magpies.

Guehi has made quite a name for himself thanks to his consistent performances for club and country. His work for the Eagles and the Three Lions resulted in a lot of interest during the recently concluded summer transfer window. Multiple top clubs tried to strike a deal for his services but they couldn’t agree terms with Palace.

Newcastle were keen on securing the 24-year-old centre-back’s services. Eddie Howe was keen on defensive reinforcement and Guehi was at the top of their wishlist. The Magpies submitted four bids for his services but they were all turned down by Palace who demanded £75million for him in the summer.

The Tyneside club retain interest in his services as he is still Howe’s top target to bolster his backline. But, the player is not overly keen on joining them. While that won’t stop Newcastle from trying, Guehi has informed his friends that he would like to join a bigger club than the Magpies.

Liverpool are one of the English giants that are keen on acquiring his services and the English defender would jump at the opportunity to join Arne Slot’s team. The Reds have been monitoring him since the summer but they didn’t make a move as the Dutch manager was not entirely sure about Guehi being an ideal fit for his system.

But, he seems to have had a change of heart having seen him in action during the 2024/25 season. Slot is convinced that the 24-year-old could be an ideal long-term replacement for Virgil van Dijk who is 33 and in the final phase of his career.

Guehi prefers moving to Anfield which could have a massive say on his future but that won’t stop the Tyneside club from trying to lure him.
