AC Milan eyeing January move for Kieran Trippier

AC Milan are keen to explore a move for Kieran Trippier, with the veteran open to leaving Newcastle United for a new challenge.

According to Fichajes, AC Milan could target a move for Kieran Trippier in January amid reports that the right-back would like to leave Newcastle United. The Rossoneri are eager to bring in an experienced player, as they are keen to take advantage of the full-back’s situation at St James Park.

Kieran Trippier appeared to have sorted his mind about leaving Newcastle United in the summer, as some problems were brewing in the background. Eddie Howe considered the right-back a critical component in the squad but was reluctant to pick him as his starting player when the campaign kickstarted.

The promotion of Tino Livramento caused concerns with Trippier, who still has under two years left on his £120,000-a-week deal at the club. For a brief period, Newcastle United were considering a sale, although their demands to offload the £120,000-a-week veteran may have felt out of order for some of the interested sides.

Trippier was also the subject of a bid from Bayern Munich last January, which Newcastle United did not agree to. The Bavarians never returned in the summer, and while there were some murmurs about others being interested, including those from Turkey, Trippier stayed at Newcastle

While there’s a feeling he still wants out of the club and could look for a way to exit in January, there could be a few of the teams interested, including AC Milan, as per the report here. Trippier could evaluate his options carefully, as this could be the last big move of his career.

AC Milan keen on Trippier

Milan signed Emerson Royal from Tottenham during the summer, and together with Davide Calabria, they did look like good options for the club. However, there are considerable doubts about the characters of those stars after a terrible run of results at the start of the campaign.

In Trippier, Milan could get an experienced head in their squad, one they would need if the club are preparing to challenge for titles this season. Hence, a move for the English defender would make sense for Milan, although any deal will depend on how much Newcastle will demand to sell him.
