Hansi Flick wants Barcelona to sign Alisson Becker after Marc-Andre ter Stegen injury

Hansi Flick is reportedly pushing Barcelona to sign 31-year-old Brazilian international Alisson Becker from Liverpool to replace Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s long-term knee injury has forced Barcelona to scour the market for a world-class goalkeeper. So, several candidates have emerged on the Catalan club’s radar, with Hansi Flick pushing the Blaugrana to sign six-season Liverpool veteran Alisson Becker from the Merseyside club.

The rise and rise of Alisson Becker

Alisson Becker has gone from strength to strength since joining Liverpool from AS Roma in a big-money deal in July 2018. The move raised some eyebrows, even though the Merseyside club desperately needed a world-class goalkeeper. However, the experienced shot-stopper has lived up to the billing and justified the heavy investment in him half a dozen years ago.

The 31-year-old has been arguably the best goalkeeper in the world in the last few years while being a mainstay between the sticks for Liverpool and Brazil. The six-season Liverpool veteran has turned out over 250 times thus far for the Premier League club while keeping 117 clean sheets and conceding 238 goals. He has also scored a goal for the Reds.

However, the Brazilian international, who has turned out 71 times thus far for the Selecao, faces an uncertain future at Anfield amid his relentless links with the Saudi Pro League. The latest report has revealed that the experienced goalkeeper is a target for Barcelona, with Hansi Flick pushing for his signature.

Can Barcelona sign the Liverpool veteran?

Barcelona can do with a goalkeeper like Alisson Becker, who still has many years of top-level football in him. However, the Blaugrana will likely delve into the market for a shot-stopper in the January transfer window if they fail to sign a free agent after losing Marc-Andre ter Stegen to a long-term knee injury this past weekend.

So, several candidates, including Arnau Tenas, have emerged on Barcelona’s radar, with Alisson’s name featuring on Hansi Flick’s wishlist. However, a January move for the six-season Liverpool veteran is impossible, considering the 31-year-old goalkeeper’s importance to the Merseyside club.

So, Barcelona must look elsewhere to bolster the goalkeeping department in the January transfer window, with the 71-cap Brazilian international only likely to leave Liverpool in the summer transfer window at the earliest.
