Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund are reportedly interested in signing 25-year-old Spanish international Fran Garcia from Real Madrid next year.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Fran Garcia is the subject of interest from Borussia Dortmund. The Bundesliga giants are keen on reinforcing their backline by signing a left-back next year. So, the 25-year-old Real Madrid wide player has emerged as a target for the Black and Yellows.
Fran Garcia and his journey so far
Fran Garcia has struggled to stamp his authority since joining Real Madrid from Rayo Vallecano last year. A native of Bolanos de Calatrava, the Spaniard spent most of his formative years in his hometown before joining Real Madrid over a decade ago. However, the spell with Rayo Vallecano helped him rise to prominence in La Liga.
The 25-year-old wide player established himself as one of the best full-backs during his stint with Rayo Vallecano, prompting Real Madrid to re-sign him. However, Garcia has been a backup figure for Real Madrid in the last 12 months, although he has turned out five times thus far this term while amassing 264 minutes of game time.
Fran Garcia’s status as a backup left-back for Real Madrid means a departure might be on the cards in the 2025 summer transfer window. The Spanish international does not have a shortage of clubs pursuing his signature, with Borussia Dortmund among his prospective suitors.
Bundesliga move on the horizon?
Fran Garcia has been on Borussia Dortmund’s radar for a long time. The Bundesliga giants were keen on signing the Real Madrid wide player in the summer transfer window before a move failed to materialise. The continued interest in the Spaniard is understandable, as Nuri Sahin does not have two top-class left-backs in his squad.
So, Garcia is a viable target for Borussia Dortmund, especially considering he might not have a long-term future at Real Madrid amid the reigning La Liga champions’ links with Alphonso Davies. With the Canadian international likely moving to the Santiago Bernabeu next summer, Garcia must find a new destination.
So, Borussia Dortmund should be an attractive option for the 25-year-old Spanish full-back, who will get to play in the UEFA Champions League. It will be interesting to see if a move to Signal Iduna Park sees the light of day for the Real Madrid wide player.
