Christian Eriksen set to leave Manchester United in the summer

Danish star midfielder Christian Eriksen is all set to part ways with Manchester United at the end of the 2024/25 season.

According to a report from Fichajes, Manchester United have already started making plans for the next summer window. The Red Devils have made a decision on the future of Christian Eriksen. They will not be extending his stay at the club and he will be their first departure at the end of the 2024/25 season.

Eriksen who made a name for himself while playing for Tottenham Hotspur returned to England back in 2022. He joined Brentford on a short-term basis to resume his football career at the start of the year and six months down the line he ended up joining Manchester United.

While he was an integral part of the first team in his debut season, the 32-year-old Danish midfielder has been a squad player for over a year now. With his contract running out in the summer of 2025, the Manchester-based club were keen on offloading him.

They were exploring potential destinations for the former Spurs star who earns around £150,000 a week at Old Trafford. His departure could make a lot of room on their wage bill and they could use that to reinforce other areas on the pitch.

While they were keen on parting ways with him, the Danish international couldn’t secure a move away in time. With the transfer window in all major European countries now over, he will continue at United until the end of the 2024/25 season.

Christian Eriksen to leave Manchester United in 2025

The veteran midfielder has been involved in three matches so far. He has been used as a cover for other first-team regulars and is expected to have a similar role throughout the season. While Eriksen remains an important part of their team and his experience could help their cause, they already have their eyes on younger players who can take his place in their squad.

With his contract running out in less than 10 months, United have decided that the Danish international will be the first player to leave the club next summer. It could be a win-win situation for both parties as United will make room for new arrivals while Eriksen will be free to join any club of his choice for free.
