PSG more advanced than Liverpool in Joshua Kimmich chase

Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain reportedly have the “most concrete” interest in 29-year-old Bayern Munich utility man Joshua Kimmich, a target for Liverpool.

According to a report by Fabrizio Romano on Caught Offside, Joshua Kimmich is the subject of interest from Paris Saint-Germain. The Bayern Munich utility man is also a target for Liverpool. However, the Ligue 1 champions are more advanced than any other club in the race to sign the 29-year-old from the Bavarian bigwigs.

The rise and rise of Joshua Kimmich

Joshua Kimmich has established himself as one of the best players in the world since joining Bayern Munich from VfB Stuttgart in July 2015. The versatile footballer rose in prominence during Pep Guardiola’s spell with the Bundesliga heavyweights, with the Catalan tactician seeing something special in him.

The 29-year-old has been a utility man for Bayern Munich in the last nine years, excelling as a right-back and a holding midfielder. Kimmich has turned out nearly 400 times thus far for the Bavarian bigwigs while chipping in with 42 goals and 106 assists.

However, the German international, who has played 93 times for Die Mannschaft, faces an uncertain future at Bayern Munich after entering the final 12 months of his contract. Meanwhile, Joshua Kimmich’s situation has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe, including Liverpool and PSG.

Will Kimmich embark on a new adventure next year?

Liverpool mulled over pursuing Joshua Kimmich in the summer transfer window before a move failed to materialise. The 29-year-old utility man reportedly remains on the Merseyside club’s radar. With Liverpool keen on signing a holding midfielder, the Bayern Munich star is a viable target.

As for PSG, they bolstered their midfield department in the summer transfer window by signing Joao Neves. However, Fabian Ruiz is a target for several European bigwigs, thus bringing Kimmich into the picture. The Bayern Munich mainstay can also become an option for the right-back berth at PSG.

Fabrizio Romano has suggested that the Ligue 1 champions are more advanced than the other suitors in the race to secure Joshua Kimmich’s services. However, Bayern Munich will look to tie the 93-cap German international to a new contract amid speculation surrounding his future.
