Inter Milan keen on Guglielmo Vicario

Tottenham close to securing priority option for future Johnny Cardoso deal.

Italian giants Inter Milan are keen on acquiring the services of Tottenham Hotspur shot-stopper Guglielmo Vicario.

According to a report from Milanlive, Inter Milan are looking to bring in a new goalkeeper in the near future. With Yann Sommer in the final phase of his career, the Italian giants are looking for someone who can take charge between the sticks for the long run and they are willing to bet on Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario.

The Italian goalkeeper joined the Premier League outing in the summer of 2023 in a deal worth less than €20 million. He managed to settle in quite quickly and has been the go-to man for Ange Postecoglou’s team in goal for over a year now.

While he has had his share of criticism because of Tottenham’s struggle to deal with set pieces, the 27-year-old has done a great job on the majority of the occasions. His consistent performances have resulted in interest from the Serie A.

Inter view Vicario as an ideal replacement for Sommer

Inter Milan are keen on his signature, they want to bring Vicario back to the Italian top flight. He played all his football in his homeland before making the move to Spurs. The Italian international who made a name for himself at Empoli could be seen playing in the Serie A in the near future.

While he still has close to four years left on his deal at the English club, Inter are looking to prise him away from the North London club. They already have Yann Sommer who is their preferred choice in goal. While he still has over 18 months left on his deal, he will be 36 in December and the Italian outfit are looking to prepare for the long run.

They believe Vicario is just the perfect fit for them and feel they could bring him back to Italy in a deal worth around €30 million. While they are confident about striking a deal with Tottenham, it won’t be that straightforward.

Daniel Levy is not an easy man to negotiate with and since they consider Vicario an integral part of their first team, they are unlikely to let him leave for €30 million, it might take a much bigger fee. Inter have reportedly asked about his availability but things might not proceed further.
