Barcelona to scout Vanderson, Caio Henrique in AS Monaco game

Barcelona will reportedly scout the Brazilian defensive duo of Vanderson and Caio Henrique in the UEFA Champions League match against AS Monaco on Thursday.

According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Vanderson and Caio Henrique are the subjects of interest from Barcelona. The Catalan giants are scouring the full-back market for options for both flanks. So, the Blaugrana will run the rule over the AS Monaco defensive duo during the UEFA Champions League clash between the two sides on Thursday.

Caio Henrique has established himself as one of the best left-backs in Ligue 1 since joining AS Monaco from Atletico Madrid in August 2020. A native of Santos, he graduated from the youth division at Santos FC before arriving in Europe by joining Atletico Madrid in February 2016. However, he could not estsablish a foothold in the first-team squad at Civitas Metropolitano.

The 27-year-old has turned out nearly 150 times thus far for AS Monaco while chipping in with three goals and 34 assists. As for Vanderson, the young right-back has been with AS Monaco since January 2022, with the principality club beating interest from Barcelona to secure his services.

The 23-year-old has turned out nearly 100 times thus far for AS Monaco while chipping in with seven goals and ten assists. The Brazilian international was a target for many high-profile clubs across Europe in the summer transfer window. Premier League bigwigs remain keen on signing Vanderson, who, along with Henrique, is also a target for Barcelona.

Barcelona’s interest in Vanderson and Caio Henrique is understandable. The Blaugrana could not land a right-back in the summer transfer window after failing to re-sign Joao Cancelo, who has moved to Saudi Arabia. So, with Jules Kounde continuing as the right-back, Vanderson is a viable target for Barcelona.

As for Caio Henrique, he can be the alternative to Alejandro Balde, who remains the undisputed first-choice left-back for Barcelona. However, with the Blaugrana parting ways with Marcos Alonso, Henrique is an option worth considering.
