Former Everton midfielder Amadou Onana joined Aston Villa in the summer transfer window but snubbed Arsenal before moving.
Amadou Onana had established himself as a key player for Everton before his move to Aston Villa, and he was heavily linked with Arsenal as well. However, a report by Give Me Sport has now revealed that the Belgian midfielder is happy with his decision to turn down Arsenal and move to Aston Villa in a £50 million deal.
The £50 midfielder would have been an exceptional acquisition for Arsenal if they had managed to get the deal done after chasing him for a long time. He has shown that he is an expert at winning the ball back for his side and breaking down the opposition’s attacking moves.
The 23-year-old could have been the ideal partner for Declan Rice at the base of the Arsenal midfield, and they could have protected the backline better. Arsenal are already quite impressive defensively, and they could have been impregnable with Onana in the side.
The Belgian midfielder has chosen to join Aston Villa, and it will be interesting to see if he can win trophies with them. The Villans have secured UEFA Champions League qualification for the current campaign, and they will look to do well in the domestic trophies as well. Aston Villa have put together a quality squad, and Onana will certainly hope to compete at a high level with them.
