AC Milan will reportedly look to sign 28-year-old Spanish midfielder Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid in the January transfer window.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Dani Ceballos is the subject of interest from AC Milan. The Serie A giants want to bolster their midfield department in the January transfer window to reinforce their bid for multiple trophies in the second half of the 2024/25 season. So, the 28-year-old Real Madrid midfielder has emerged as a target for the Rossoneri.
Dani Ceballos would have hoped to have become one of the best midfielders in the world by now. The Spaniard was among the most highly-rated young prospects before leaving Real Betis, with several European bigwigs clamouring for his signature before Real Madrid signed him seven years ago.
However, with Casemiro, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga, Jude Bellingham, and Federico Valverde as Ceballos’s competitors, game time has come at a premium in the last seven years. The 28-year-old has managed only 150 outings thus far for Real Madrid while chipping in with seven goals and 14 assists.
Meanwhile, the Spanish midfielder has not made his mark for Spain either, managing only 13 appearances thus far for La Roja. Nevertheless, Dani Ceballos’s stock in the market remains high, with several well-known outfits, including former club Real Betis, keen on signing him in the January transfer window. However, his next destination might be Serie A, with AC Milan eyeing a move.
AC Milan’s interest in Dani Ceballos is understandable. The Serie A giants are scouring the market for a midfielder heading into the January transfer window after losing Ismael Bennacer to a long-term injury. While the Spaniard will not be a like-for-like alternative, he is an option worth considering for AC Milan.
The report has suggested that the Italian heavyweights are ready to approach Real Madrid over a possible move for the 13-cap Spanish international in the coming months. In addition, that will spoil Real Betis’s aspirations of re-signing Ceballos.
