Tottenham are considering a Bosman move for Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who may not sign a renewal at Everton as his contract expires in 2025.
According to Fichajes, Tottenham are strongly considering signing Dominic Calvert-Lewin on a free transfer next summer. The north Londoners are eager to strengthen their attack further, as the 27-year-old attacker could opt to leave Everton once his contract expires next summer.
Tottenham in Dominic Calvert-Lewin swoop
It was pretty baffling to see Dominic Calvert-Lewin unable to leave Everton despite strong interest in the striker during the summer window. The Toffees frontman’s contract expires in June 2025, meaning he could potentially go on a free transfer as some reports suggested he even rejected a contract offer during the close season.
The striker probably wants to take on a new challenge after spending the last few years in relegation battles with Everton. He does have qualities that could benefit a top Premier League sides, and hence, there were many suitors, with the Toffees reportedly rejecting a late offer from Chelsea.
Irrespective of whether that news is accurate, Calvert-Lewin might have signalled his intent to find a new challenge. Tottenham are now in the mix to sign the striker on a free transfer next summer, as Ange Postecoglou wants another attacker in his ranks, potentially as a replacement for the misfiring Richarlison.
Tottenham did sign Dominic Solanke in a club-record deal from Bournemouth, and their reported pursuit of Calvert-Lewin will signal their intent to improve the attacking options and competition. While Spurs do make for an attractive destination for any player, the 27-year-old attacker will have his choice of options, as many others are expected to come into the mix.
January sale of Calvert-Lewin unlikely
While the January window will represent Everton’s best chance to cash in on Calvert-Lewin, especially if the forward refuses to commit to his future at Goodison Park, they are unlikely to sell him then. With the start the Toffees have had, they are again expected to fight for relegation, and a player of the 27-year-old’s quality will be critical.
Manchester United and Newcastle United held late interest, as these clubs, including Tottenham, could ponder a cut-price approach for the striker in January. Everton could have a big decision to make, as they could either cash in and risk getting relegated if they are in that fight or keep the striker until next summer to eventually lose him on a free transfer.
