Arsenal and Newcastle United are interested in bringing Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane back to the Premier League.
According to a report from GiveMeSport, Arsenal and Newcastle United have emerged as potential destinations for German international Leroy Sane. The Bayern Munich star forward’s future is uncertain because of his contract situation and both Premier League outfits are keeping tabs on him as they consider bringing him back to England.
Sane came up the ranks at FC Schalke 04 and had a four-year-long spell at Manchester City between 2016 to 2020 before joining the German giants Bayern. The 28-year-old has been one of the mainstays of the German club but his future has become a big talking point as he has entered the final 10 months of his £325,000-per-week deal.
While he is all set to enter contract renewal talks with Bayern, Sane will have to accept a pay cut if he wants to continue with the German giants. As a result, there is a high possibility of those talks not reaching a positive conclusion.
Newcastle and Arsenal keen on signing Leroy Sane
Newcastle United and Arsenal are both well aware of the situation and they are ready to offer him a way back to the Premier League. Both clubs want to bring in a star winger who can help them take the next step and they feel Sane could be a great fit as he is well aware of how things work in England and will hardly take any time to settle in.
More importantly, he is only 28 and still has quite a few years left in him at the very top. The Gunners did showcase interest in the German forward towards the end of the recently concluded transfer window. But, they were aware that a potential deal was unlikely to go through.
As a result, they ended up signing Raheem Sterling from Chelsea on a season-long loan. But, the English international is considered to be a short-term fix and they could look at Sane to come in and add more firepower to their attack.
Meanwhile, Eddie Howe is also keen on having more quality in the final third of the pitch. The Magpies didn’t really do much in terms of transfer this summer. But, they did part ways with Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh amidst fear of a financial breach. Now, they have set their eyes on reinforcing their squad and Sane could be a great addition to their squad.
Both English outfits will be keeping a close eye on his situation at Bayern Munich and if they see an opportunity within the next 12 months, they will pounce on it.
