Arsenal, Newcastle United run rule over Yeremy Pino

Arsenal and Newcastle United have reportedly had scouts watch 21-year-old Spanish international Yeremy Pino in action for Villarreal.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on HITC, Arsenal and Newcastle United are interested in Yeremy Pino. The two Premier League clubs have already sent scouts to watch the Villarreal winger in action after his return from a long-term ACL injury. Meanwhile, the Spanish international’s contract with the Yellow Submarine has a release clause worth £67 million.

Yeremy Pino and his career so far

Yeremy Pino has been one of the best young wingers in La Liga for several years. A native of Las Palmas, the Spaniard has been with Villarreal since 2019 and has come leaps and bounds in the last half a decade. He spent his formative years with multiple clubs, including Barrio Atlantico, AD Huracan, UD Las Palmas, and CD Roda.

The 21-year-old broke into the first-team squad at Villarreal in October 2020 and has been a regular for the Yellow Submarine in the last four years. The youngster has featured in all four La Liga games thus far for Villarreal this term, although he has yet to score a goal or provide an assist.

However, the Spanish international has been impressive on his return trail, recovering well from his long-term injury layoff due to an ACL rupture. Meanwhile, Yeremy Pino’s progress at Villarreal has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs, especially in the Premier League. Arsenal and Newcastle United are among his prospective suitors after scouting him in the early days of the 2024/25 season.

Premier League move on the horizon?

Arsenal’s interest in Yeremy Pino is understandable. Mikel Arteta has been keen on having two top-quality options for each position in his squad. So, while the Gunners have signed Raheem Sterling and are open to a permanent move next summer, they have kept their options open. The 21-year-old Spanish international is thus a viable target.

As for Newcastle United, the Magpies were keen on parting ways with Miguel Almiron this past summer before a move failed to materialise. The 30-year-old might leave Newcastle United in January, meaning they must identify a long-term replacement. The Villarreal winger is thus an option worth considering. However, he will not come cheap, with his contract containing a release clause worth £67 million.

While Arsenal and Newcastle United should have enough funds to afford a deal worth £67 million to secure Yeremy Pino’s services, they also need to worry about the Profit and Sustainability Rules. Nevertheless, they have scouted the Spaniard, and a future move might be on the cards.
