According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Achraf Hakimi wants to return to Real Madrid in the 2025 summer transfer window. The Moroccan international is desperate to rejoin Los Blancos and is working to seal the move. However, a deal for the Paris Saint-Germain mainstay is complicated.
Achraf Hakimi and his journey so far
Achraf Hakimi has been one of the best wing-backs in the world in the last few years. A native of Madrid, he spent most of his formative years with Real Madrid, rising through the ranks at the Spanish club before breaking into the first-team squad in October 2017. However, his debut season with Real Madrid was the only campaign he represented Los Blancos.
Instead, the 25-year-old has excelled in his spells with Borussia Dortmund (on loan), Inter Milan, and Paris Saint-Germain, joining the Ligue 1 champions in July 2021. Hakimi has been a mainstay in the backline at Parc des Princes, turning out 123 times thus far for PSG while chipping in with 15 goals and 20 assists.
Meanwhile, Hakimi has already made 79 appearances for the Moroccan national side despite not being at his peak yet. However, the former Real Madrid full-back has grown disillusioned at PSG and wants to return to Real Madrid in the 2025 summer transfer window, although a deal might be complicated.
Real Madrid return on the cards?
Real Madrid can do with a player like Achraf Hakimi, considering Dani Carvajal is approaching the twilight of his glittering career. While the veteran Spanish full-back has played his best football in the last 12 months, he is on the wrong side of 30. So, it behoves Real Madrid to plan for life after Carvajal.
Hakimi is thus an option worth considering for Real Madrid, although they have other targets, like Trent Alexander-Arnold, on their radar. In addition, dealing with PSG is complicated for Real Madrid, considering the relations between the two clubs.
So, re-signing Hakimi from PSG will not be straightforward for Los Blancos if the Moroccan international becomes a target for the club. It will be interesting to see if the 25-year-old gets his desired move to Real Madrid next year.
