Kieran Trippier set for Newcastle United stay

Kieran Trippier is set to stay at Newcastle United despite intense speculation surrounding his immediate future as Turkish clubs withdraw.

According to Football Insider, Kieran Trippier is set to stay at Newcastle United at least until the January window after a recent twist in transfer talks. The Newcastle United veteran had been heavily linked with an immediate exit, although his present suitors from Tueky pulled the plug on a transfer.

Kieran Trippier to stay put at Newcastle United

Last January, Newcastle United received a bid from Bayern Munich to sign Kieran Trippier, but given the stage of the season, the club decided to turn the offer down. The right-back may have had his head turned by the Bavarians, who were expected to return with another offer in the summer, which never arrived.

Either way, since that period, Trippier’s form has dwindled, allowing Tino Livramento to usurp his place in the starting lineup. In the summer, Eddie Howe named Bruno Guimaraes the club’s new captain, which saw Trippier lose the armband as he was their vice-captain.

Meanwhile, Livramento has started all three of their games since the new season began, which has left Trippier unhappy. The right-back has been open to leaving even after the European window closed, as he did have Turkish suitors. However, things have changed despite solid interest, as Trippier reportedly agreed on personal terms with Eyupspor

Those Turkish sides included Istanbul Basaksehir, Fenerbahce, Besiktas, and Eyupspor. The quartet reportedly pulled the plug on a potential deal. Hence, Trippier is now set to stay at Newcastle at least until the January window, which is also what Eddie Howe wants.

Trippier decision fantastic for Eddie Howe

Howe was seemingly worried about the prospect of losing Trippier at this stage when they could not sign a replacement. While the club were open to selling him for a reasonable price, which would have allowed them to save on his wages, the manager wanted him to stay as he does add quality to the squad.

The decision now clear that the Newcastle star will stay at least until January is fantastic news for Howe and the build-up to the new season. Had he left, the manager would have had only Livramento as the recognised right-back in the squad, which would have hurt the team at some stage of the campaign.
